The fete committee is made up of a small group of volunteers who all live in the village.

Typically the Longwick Fete takes place on the first Saturday in May - this year was no exception and it was held on Saturday 4th May. If you attended, we hope you enjoyed it and, if you missed it, we look forward to seeing you at next year’s event!

The fete is a wonderful community event that brings people together for an afternoon of fun on the Village Green. It also raises much needed funds to maintain the Village Hall. The 2018 fete produced an incredible £6,700 which was spent providing the Hall with much needed repairs including, amongst other things, a refurbished floor and new lighting.

As always the 2019 fete provided some wonderful entertainment including the traditional Garland Parade (you can read more about this parade elsewhere on this website under the title “Garlands”) and Maypole Dancing by the children of Longwick School. Quite literally fetegoers were treated to “all the fun of the fair” in the form of a popular Dog Show, Tombola, Bottle Game, Zorbing, Birds of Prey, Punch and Judy, Fairgound rides, lots of craft and other stalls, Go Carts, Pony Rides and Reptile displays!

There were also performances from many other groups and contributors throughout the day such as The Towersey Morris Dancers, The Hemley Hillbillies from Princes Risborough, Jazzercise, Tamashii Taiko Drummers and, of course, the children of the Allstars Academy. The fete was officially opened at noon with a special performance by the children of Longwick Pre-school, who use the Village Hall as their venue, and it was wonderful to see so many people there to support them.

Refreshments are always in plentiful supply at the Longwick Fete – tea, coffee & cake were on sale inside the Hall courtesy of the local WI and there were many other stalls offering food including the local Scouts' BBQ, Howe’s Fish & Chips, Mozzarella Nation Pizzas and Coolberry Café’s ever popular frozen yoghurts. Our very own Beer Tent served a selection of drinks including Pimms and local beer from the Rebellion Brewery in Marlow.

As always, raffle tickets were on sale at £1 each with some tempting prizes including an iPAD.

We hope to see you next year!
